Introducing Dan McLain, Binghamton University Dining Services’ new District Manager

December 13, 2023

As of November 2023, Dan McLain has been appointed the new district manager for Binghamton University Dining Services (BUDS). Included in his responsibilities, McLain will oversee the dining program at not only Binghamton University, but also Clarkson University, Keystone College, Le Moyne, and Hobart and William Smith Colleges.

McLain has worked with Sodexo for over 15 years. He has held various general manager positions for universities including Arkansas State and in 2021 was promoted to a district manager position for the New Hampshire/Massachusetts region. In past roles, he has been successful in developing strong relationships between partners, clients, and vendors, with a focus on business growth and driving organizational performance.

McLain studied food service and lodging management at Western Illinois University and received an MBA from Walden University.

Previously, the district manager position was held by Jim Ruoff since January 2014. Ruoff is now Vice President of Operations for the eastern region of Sodexo North America, with responsibilities overseeing Binghamton University.

McLain is looking forward to being part of the Binghamton Community, saying, “I am thrilled to be leading a talented team that is committed to providing healthy and diverse dining options to the campus.  I am confident that the great partnerships that have been established with our clients will continue to help further achieve the University’s goals.”
