The Stop the Hunger drive is a powerful initiative dedicated to addressing food insecurity within the local community. This year’s drive was held from February 10-16 and was organized by Binghamton University Dining Services (BUDS) in collaboration with the Community Hunger Outreach Warehouse (CHOW) and the Binghamton University Food Pantry. This campaign empowers students to make a meaningful impact by contributing donations at the register. These donations are then converted into nutritious meals for those facing hunger, demonstrating how small individual actions can collectively create significant change.

This year’s Stop Hunger campaign has been particularly successful, thanks to the compassion and generosity of Binghamton University students, faculty, and staff. Together, the community provided an impressive 19,160 meals. This achievement not only reflects the dedication of BUDS but it also highlights the power of collective action in addressing critical social issues.

Central to this initiative are two essential organizations: CHOW and the Binghamton University Food Pantry. CHOW, a well-established local food bank, plays a vital role in distributing donated meals to individuals and families in need throughout Broome County. With a mission to ensure no one in the community goes hungry, CHOW works tirelessly to provide access to healthy food while raising awareness about the challenges of food insecurity. Whereas the pantry offers a welcoming space where students can access essential food items and other resources without judgment. This collaborative approach ensures that both the campus and surrounding community receive the support they need.

Binghamton University Dining Services extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who participated in the Stop the Hunger drive. It is through the unwavering support of students, faculty, and staff that such impactful initiatives can thrive. Together, we continue to build a stronger, more compassionate community, one meal at a time.
